Sumla is built around durable account identity and the shared books you choose to join. Privacy in a shared cash book starts with making the audience of each book clear.
Your account and profile
Your account and profile identify you to the people who share a book with you. Keep that information accurate, and use only an account you are authorised to use.
What a book records
A book can contain its members, expenses, allocations, comments, evidence, balance sources, and settlement records. That information lets the people in the book understand what was paid, how it was split, and how a balance was reached.
Who can see it
People in a book can see its shared record. Financial history may remain visible when membership changes so the book still explains how a balance was made; removing someone should not erase the entries that involved them.
Contacts and invitations
Contact discovery is optional and can be revoked. Ask before inviting someone, and only share a book with people who should be able to see it. Invitation records help the book show who was invited, accepted, declined, or removed.
Your choices
You choose which books to join, which people to invite when you have permission, and what you record. Review a book’s members before adding an expense or confirming a settlement.
